The Team

The Orangegasm Drag Boat is a father-son team owned and operated by Chris and Jake Yeager. Jake, the Driver and Owner of the Orangegasm, operates under the careful instruction of his father and Crew Chief, Chris, who owns the motor and tunes the boat. The Orangegasm is a 1979 Southwind Tunnel Dragster. Originally purchased as a project, the Orangegasm has become a distinguished quarter-mile drag boat.

From Spectators To Racers
It all began in the warm summer of 2010 as a bonding experience between father and son. The dynamic duo ventured to the “Thunder In The Channel” races in Lake Elsinore, California. Having only been previously exposed to river racers in their summers spent on the lower Colorado River, it was the first time the two had seen boats exceeding speeds of 120 miles per hour. Unbeknownst to them, this would be the day that started their endless yearning for speed and championships.
Trial And Error
The first time the Orangegasm hit the waters of the lower Colorado River was in August of 2011 in Blythe, California. It was there, in front of McIntyre Park, where Chris and Jake were first exposed to river races and grudge matches. Unaware of what it took to be a river racer and captivated by the thrill of high speed, Jake took his chances and put his foot to the floor. A snapped steering cable unfortunately halted him mid pass. Jake did not let this setback define him. Instead, he used it as motivation in his pursuit for high speed.
The First Race
In October of 2013, The Orangegasm took its first pass down the liquid quarter-mile at the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series NAPA World Finals. The father-son pair nearly quit before they began, as they were intimidated of the new scene and unfamiliar of the norms and protocol; however, the hospitality of the other racers encouraged them to stay. The undeniable camaraderie between the various drag boat teams assured them of their future in the sport. Jake and Chris were officially hooked.
